The Three Ads That Lost The Race For Ossoff.

Donald Trump, Jr is right.

The Democrats (again) just won a medal (a very expensive one) for participation. The Democrats energized nationally (and that hurt in the long run) and failed to run a race to win (again) – they relied on a crap playbook and lost a race to a woman who actually said this during a debate.

“Look, if somebody’s working a 40-hour workweek, they deserve the kind of standard of living that Americans expect,” Ossoff said during the debate. “That’s part of the American dream, and there are too many folks having trouble making ends meet.”

However Handel said she is fully opposed to it and stated that “This is an example of a fundamental difference between a liberal and a conservative.”

“I do not support a livable wage,” she added.

That is a shocking statement. And one that despite having enormous piles of money, Ossoff failed to take advantage of.

Thats what a participation medal goes for these days (these are not final numbers) but Democrats poured money into the race and won silver.

Go team.

Like many, I have been watching this race closely and three things jump out.

I won’t call out his name but the campaign manager for Ossoff was horribly unqualified for the task at hand. A quick LinkedIn search reveals that he ran a campaign that lost last fall in Michigan and that he has a Masters degree in Public Policy Administration from University of Michigan.

If you are going to have a debate on esoteric issues in public policy, he’s your guy. In a dogfight, ah not really.

So what did Ossoff do with his $30,000,000? Torched it.

They failed to attack Handel before they were attacked and they failed to understand that the Republicans would go low and hard late and they were completely unprepared. (Paul Abrams predicted this months ago.)

When attacked on Ossoff’s support for the Iran deal instead of blowing a nuclear bomb up in her face, Ossoff released a list of talking points.

But it was the closing arguments of both campaigns that ultimately cost Ossoff the race and are prime examples of the complete ineptitude that permeates Democratic campaigns.

First, Handel went after the black vote using Obama’s voice.

“Hi, my name is Autry Pruitt, a fellow black American working hard every day, just like you,” Pruitt says. “It may seem out of season, but all of a sudden, Democratic politicians have started coming around again. We normally only see them every other November, swarming around and making promises to get our vote. But nothing ever changes for us, does it? Here’s what President Barack Obama had to say about it.”

Then Obama begins speaking, but the ad provides no context for his words.

“A plantation. Black people in the worst jobs. The worst housing. Police brutality rampant,” Obama says. “But when the so-called black committeemen came around election time, we’d all line up and vote the straight Democratic ticket. Sell our souls for a Christmas turkey.”

Then Pruitt tells listeners not to “sell out for another Christmas turkey.”

What was Ossoff’s response? Couldn’t find one.

Then there was this ad.

That is a crushingly good ad.

So with $30,000,000 or so to play with (torch) what ad did Ossoff come up with? First some caveats.

One of the main attacks on Ossoff was that he didn’t actually live in the district. This seems really stupid to me but when he decided to run, he was a long shot so maybe people figured it wouldn’t matter. It did.

I mean, let’s be honest – when Politifact gives Trump a true rating, you know you f—ed up.

So the guy who doesn’t live in his district comes up with a closing ad. Who does he use? Someone who isn’t from the district – doesn’t look like he is from the district and whom while I have great personal empathy for on many levels, is completely irrelevant.

The crazy leftist ad — 146,000 views.

Mr. Khan —– 749 views.

Don’t believe the bullshit about how close this was, and how it shows Trump is a liability, it doesn’t. What it shows is that the DC consultant class is going to line up at the trough that will be 2018, and run the same races under the same playbook and the results will be the same.

Democrats around the country should be FURIOUS at the results here. And the waste of money and the colossal incompetence of the people working for Ossoff. This is the second pillar of “Why Democrats Lose” —- our campaigns are disasters.

So this was a winnable race (like Hillary) the candidate had plenty of money (like Hillary) they blew the money, or again as Van says ‘torched it” (like Hillary) and guess what, just like Hillary,

Ossoff won silver.
